Featuring layers of savory turkey-based salami, beef prosciutto, and turkey pepperoni, this sandwich is paired with nutty provolone and a zesty, homemade giardiniera. The combination of crispy, buttery bread and a molten, cheesy center creates a gourmet deli experience at home in under 20 minutes.
Ingredients
8 slices hearty sandwich bread
8 slices provolone cheese
4 ounces halal beef salami, thinly sliced
4 ounces halal beef prosciutto, thinly sliced
2 ounces halal turkey pepperoni
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 cup hot pickled cauliflower, finely chopped
1/2 cup green Castelvetrano olives, pitted and chopped
1/4 cup banana peppers, chopped
Instructions
In a medium bowl, combine the chopped cauliflower, olives, and banana peppers to make the giardiniera and set aside.
Lay out 8 slices of bread. Place one slice of provolone cheese on each of the 4 bottom slices.
Layer the beef salami, beef prosciutto, and turkey pepperoni evenly across the 4 sandwiches.
Top the meats with a spoonful of the giardiniera mixture and a layer of fresh basil leaves.
Place a second slice of provolone cheese on top, then close with the remaining bread slices.
Spread the softened butter evenly on the exterior sides of the sandwiches.
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Cook the sandwiches in batches until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is fully melted, about 3-5 minutes per side.
Notes
Use high-quality deli meats for the best flavor. Ensure your skillet is not too hot to allow the cheese to melt fully before the bread burns. Store leftover giardiniera in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
