Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup white sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup cocoa powder
3/4 cup chocolate chips (1/2 cup in batter, 1/4 cup for topping)
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C)
Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper
In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt
Add softened butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla extract; mix until smooth
Press half of the brownie batter into the prepared dish
In a separate bowl, combine remaining flour, sugar, egg, and vanilla with melted butter
Mix cookie dough, fold in 1/4 cup chocolate chips
Spoon cookie dough over brownie layer, swirl gently
Sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top
Bake for 35-40 minutes or until edges are golden
Cool completely before cutting into 24 squares
Notes
For easier slicing, chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes after baking
Double chocolate topping: sprinkle mini chocolate chips between the two layers
