Description

A naturally sweet, moist, and aromatic loaf that brings warmth to your kitchen. Infused with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom, this hearty bread is packed with fresh figs and crunchy walnuts. It is a perfect, bakery-quality comfort treat to serve alongside your favorite morning coffee or tea. Being a one-bowl wonder, it is remarkably easy to assemble, making it an ideal choice for busy families looking for a delicious, homemade indulgence without the cleanup fuss.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/3 cups granulated sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup whole milk
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup fresh figs, finely chopped
1 tbsp softened butter

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Prepare a bundt pan or two loaf pans by brushing them thoroughly with softened butter and dusting with a light coating of flour.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, cloves, nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon, and salt.
Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the vegetable oil, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix the batter.
Gently fold in the chopped figs and walnuts.
Pour the batter into the prepared pans.
Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

You can substitute light pastry flour for a softer texture or brown sugar for a deeper molasses flavor. Pecans make a great alternative to walnuts. If making a dairy-free version, almond milk works exceptionally well.
