This Crockpot Pierogi Casserole with Kielbasa is the ultimate comfort food. Combining tender pierogi, savory kielbasa, and a creamy cheese sauce in a slow cooker, this hearty dish is simple to make and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
12-16 frozen pierogi (any flavor or plain)
1.5 lbs halal kielbasa, sliced into ½-inch rounds
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 ½ cups sour cream
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 bay leaf
1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
1 cup frozen peas (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Place frozen pierogi into the slow cooker.
Add halal kielbasa slices on top of the pierogi.
In a large bowl, whisk together sour cream, milk, butter, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and thyme.
Pour the creamy sauce over the pierogi and kielbasa.
Top with shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.
Place the lid on and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
Before serving, transfer everything to an oven-safe baking dish or back into the slow cooker dish.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
Notes
Add sliced mushrooms or frozen peas during the first hour of cooking for extra flavor and nutrition.
Ensure your pierogi are frozen for best results. Thawed pierogi may become too soft.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
