Ingredients
4 Cube Steaks
3 Tbsp All-purpose flour
2 Tbsp Olive oil
3 Tbsp Unsalted butter
1 tsp Brown sugar
1/4 tsp Black pepper
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1/2 tsp Onion powder
1/2 tsp Chili powder
1/2 tsp Paprika
2 Tbsp Cornstarch
1 cup Chicken broth
1 cup Beef broth
1 cube Beef bouillon
1.5 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 large Yellow onion, thinly sliced
Instructions
Mix salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and paprika in a small bowl.
Season both sides of the cube steaks with the spice mixture.
Dredge each steak in the flour, shaking off any excess.
Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Sear the steaks for 3-4 minutes per side until browned, then remove from the pan and set aside.
Reduce heat to medium, add remaining butter and sliced onions to the skillet.
Sprinkle in the brown sugar and sauté onions until caramelized and golden brown.
Whisk together beef broth, chicken broth, beef bouillon, and Worcestershire sauce with the cornstarch.
Pour the broth mixture into the skillet with the onions and stir until the sauce begins to thicken.
Return the steaks to the skillet, cover, and simmer on low for 15-20 minutes until the meat is fork-tender and the gravy is rich.
Notes
Serve over creamy mashed potatoes or steamed rice to soak up the extra gravy. If the gravy becomes too thick, splash in a little more broth. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
