Ingredients
3 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat
Add sliced onions and sauté for 5-7 minutes until beginning to soften
Sauté garlic until fragrant (about 1 minute)
Add balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and thyme (if using)
Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30-40 minutes until onions are deep golden-brown and tender
