Ingredients
500g sirloin or chuck roast beef, thinly sliced
3 large potatoes, chopped
1 large onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 carrots, sliced into thin rounds
2 bell peppers (one red, one green), chopped
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with water
1 tbsp oil for marinade
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp crushed bouillon cube (non-pork)
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
Fresh thyme and basil, to taste
Instructions
In a bowl, combine beef, salt, crushed bouillon, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, thyme, and oil.
Cover and refrigerate the beef for 60 minutes to marinate.
Peel and cut potatoes into small chunks, then rinse with cold water.
Heat oil in a large skillet and sear the marinated beef until browned.
Remove beef and add potatoes to the skillet, cooking until golden and soft.
Add onions, carrots, and bell peppers, sautéing until tender.
Stir in the garlic and return the beef to the skillet.
Add a small amount of water or broth, stir in the cornstarch mixture, and simmer until the gravy thickens.
Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
Ensure you rinse the potatoes well to remove excess starch for a better texture. You can substitute beef broth instead of water for the gravy base to add extra depth. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
