Ingredients
2 packs Pastry for double pie crust
8 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1/4 cup All-purpose flour
3/4 cup Granulated sugar
2 tsp Ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp Freshly grated nutmeg
1 tbsp Lemon juice
2 tbsp Salted butter
2 tbsp 2% milk
2 tbsp Coarse sugar
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425ºF and spray a deep dish 9-inch pie pan with cooking spray.
Peel, core, and thinly slice the Granny Smith apples.
Combine the apples in a large sauce pan with flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
Cook the mixture over medium heat until the apples are slightly tender and the juices have thickened.
Line the prepared pie pan with the bottom pastry crust.
Pour the cooked apple filling into the crust and dot with the butter.
Place the second crust over the top, trim, and crimp the edges to seal.
Brush the top crust with milk and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
Bake at 425ºF until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Notes
